Pro baseball pitcher Steven Wright was arrested Friday night on charges of domestic assault after cops were called to his home in Tennessee.
Wright, 33, of the Boston Red Sox, was jailed following an 'incident involving his wife, Shannon,' reports NBC Sports Boston. He was since released on bail of $2,500.
Wright denied he rose 'his hand at anyone,' his lawyer, Alex Little, told the local station on behalf of the family.
The full statement read: 'On Friday night, Steven was arrested at our home following a verbal argument, and the police charged him with domestic assault.
'Although he said things he deeply regrets, he did not raise his hand at anyone during the incident, and the situation was purely emotional.'
Wright, 33, was arrested and booked by Williamson County officials Friday night and released about 12 hours later

'We are working together as a family to make our relationships stronger, and we ask that you respect our privacy as we do so.'
The Red Sox confirmed they are 'aware of the incident' and take it 'very seriously.'
The public statement said: 'It is my understanding that both local police and Major League Baseball are looking into this and for that reason, the club won't have any further comment at this time.'
Wright started his career with the Red Sox back in July 2012.
Prior to his time in the major leagues, he played for a variety of minor league teams affiliated with the Cleveland Indians.
