AWARD winning sisters will appear at an upcoming festival

The Burgess Hill Fairtrade Festival returns for an eighth year next month with performances from the Red Star Thistles, Sussex Duo, Short Cover and The Askew Sisters - winners of the best traditional album in the Spiral Earth awards and the Bonfire Radicals.

It launches on Friday, April 22, with The Big Session at the Martlets Hall in Civic Way before a week of events celebrating food and drink made and produced in Sussex.

There will be beer from Bedlam Brewery in Albourne and Dark Star Brewery in Partridge Green and Fairtrade wine from Chile, Argentina and South Africa.

Two hundred metres of bunting made in the county from recycled materials will decorate the hall.

Festival organiser Robert Eggleston said: "We are fortunate to have so many Sussex producers of food and drink and it's great to be able to celebrate all we do so well locally with our wider commitment to Fairtrade in the world."
